On June 22nd 2012, I saw Keane for the first time. I wrote Tim Rice-Oxley a letter (which I was able to give to him after the show) consisting of five pages telling him how much his lyrics mean to me and how much I admire him and how much I love Keane. I told him in the letter that, “if I wasn’t a broke college student, I would also buy their vinyl records.” Today, I got home from being out of town for a week visiting my friends and on my bed was a package. I was extremely confused because I hadn’t ordered anything before I left and the package was internationally shipped. I opened the over-sized envelope and saw that contents inside included the vinyls for Perfect Symmetry and Strangeland. There was also a letter from Tim saying, “I hope you enjoy this small gift from us.” Small gift? This is the best and most thoughtful gift I’ve ever received. I will never love a band more than I love Keane.
